Saturday the 14th we said good-by to Nell, Ch. Adonai’s Lil’ Miss Sure Shot. Nell was 15 years and 1 month old. Nell retired with Mary after her show and breeding career here at Foxfire. She lived with her daughter Sadie who preceded her in death, and her granddaughter Josie. Nell had two champion offspring, Jubilee, Ch.Foxfire’s Livin’ La Vida Loca and Q, Am/Int’l Ch.Foxfire’s Code of The West. We will miss our visits and hearing about Nell’s dog park escapades… rest well old lady!
Letter from Nell’s owner, Mary…
It is with tears and great regret that I tell you that Nell went to join Sadie (and other friends) across the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. Her last day of her 15 years, 1 month was fitting. A gorgeous 60 degree March Day, we took a short walk in the park in the morning with her friends, both human and 4 legged! We were setting out in the afternoon to visit Amy, her breeder. Getting off the couch, Nell suddenly lost control, and couldn’t stand. Amy came to us and was able to spend some time with her. But Nell to the end was the independent Nell we all knew and loved. When we got her to the vet, she rallied one last time, and walked in the office with dignity on her own! She went very peacefully
Nell (born Feb 11, 2000-March 14, 2015) was a champion weim, with the formal title of CH Adonai’s Lil’ Miss Sure Shot. I was lucky to adopt her from Amy at age 6 after she had had 3 litters (Sadie being out of her first litter). Nell had 2 champion off spring, including Jubilee, Sadie’s littermate and Josie’s Mom.
Nell was well loved, and will be remembered for her plucky, independent personality. The critters (and yucca bushes) at the park (particularly those on her favorite hill) are now safe as she will no longer bother them. She has now passed that baton to Josie. Nell, always food motivated, will no longer pester “the regulars” who keep treats in their pockets, and will no longer try and nibble those pockets!
I am blessed to have had Nell as a companion, and member of my family, for 9 years. Josie and I will miss her.
