Heidi passed away peacefully at home this morning on her cushion next to my bed. She will be greatly missed by people and dogs. Heidi was the best dog you’d ever want for a friend and a companion. It was sad to say goodbye, but she had a long, fun life.
Heidi’s life held a plethora of stories.
Like the time….
She broke out of her crate in the back of the travel trailer while we were out to dinner and gave us the “paw” from the queen sized bed in the back…
She seduced my 9 month old male Weimaraner in a friend’s backyard on the 28th day of her season (no puppies but oh so bad…).
She had a litter of six, lost four of them, ended-up being a nanny to a litter of 8, nursing all 10 at the same time…
She mourned over the loss of her dog friend Anna Mae, for more than six months, wouldn’t sleep in her spot on the bed…
She took butter off the counter, final count Heidi ??, butter 0…
She pretty much refused to be crate trained, might be the only dog where we actually gave up…
She ran into a tree at full speed, looking in the opposite direction and broke two of her ribs…
She finished her championship in 4 weekends, when I “got around” to showing her at 3 years of age…
She caught and ate a rabbit at 12 years and 8 months old… yum yum just like chicken
And many more I’ll probably think of as time goes along. She was a character, beginning to end and we were lucky to have her.
Her reg’d name was Ch.Foxfire’s Tango the Night Away (Ch.Smokey Harborwest Boomerang x Ch.Foxfire’s Tango of Roses)
